This is the story of Pan, a Satyr (half man, half goat), who wanted to... ...make love to the beautiful Nymphs. However, they were kinda turned off by him so they decided it would be better to have the Gods turn them into reeds. Saddened by this, Pan goes home, gets wasted and plays with his mighty flute.
He invented the Pan Flute by the way.
